New RS 5 models enter Singapore market
Audi Singapore officially unveiled its new RS 5 sedan and Avant models yesterday, 30 September. These vehicles represent Audi Sport’s initial foray into high-performance plug-in hybrid technology. Prices for the RS 5 Sedan begin at S$713,999, while the RS 5 Avant starts at S$723,999. Both figures include the Certificate of Entitlement (COE), according to Audi Singapore. The launch coincided with the Singapore Grand Prix race month, leveraging the motorsport excitement for brand exposure.
Performance specifications and features
At the core of the new RS 5 models is a twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 engine, generating 510 horsepower (hp). This is complemented by a 130-kilowatt (kW) electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 639hp and 825 Newton-metres (Nm) of torque. Each variant weighs over 2.3 tonnes.
Both the sedan and Avant come equipped with the Audi Sport package as standard, featuring 21-inch two-tone phantom black wheels and an RS sport exhaust system, Audi Singapore stated.
Promotional activities across the city
Audi Singapore is conducting a series of promotional events across the city during the Formula 1 race season. The RS 5 Avant is currently showcased at the "Off the Grid" pop-up, co-hosted with adidas at Funan Mall, running until 11 October. The RS 5 Sedan is on display at the Audi House of Progress on Cross Street from 1 October.
Visitors to Funan Mall can also view the Audi R26 show car until 2 October, with a further display from 8 to 11 October. Audi Revolut F1 Team drivers Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg are scheduled to appear at Funan Mall on 7 October.
The introduction of Audi's first high-performance plug-in hybrid models in Singapore marks an expansion in the premium electrified vehicle segment. This move intensifies competition for luxury car distributors in the city-state, reflecting a wider trend towards hybridisation in performance automotive categories.
For consumers, it offers more choice in high-end electrified vehicles, with prices positioned at the top tier of the market, inclusive of COE. Martin Bayer, Managing Director of Audi Singapore, noted this launch represents the next chapter in Audi Sport’s electrified performance strategy.
